Leads! Join us at For Follows’ Sake to explore a deeper and more creative connection with Follows on the dance floor.
As classes kick off, Mickey will host a Lead’s Orientation Saturday morning to go over how best to approach this weekend. Leads will get a little extra of Mickey’s attention and be able to ask him questions about his theory/approach to balboa and being a better partner.
Over the course of the weekend, Leads will have the unique opportunity to concentrate on their ability to respond and pay attention to their partners while exploring more follow-centric themes and concepts. Classes will emphasize not only creating the space for follows to express themselves within balboa and bal-swing basics; but will also teach leads to open doors for them within more complex moves, feel and respond to their variations, as well as highlight their styling and voice in competition or performance environments.
For Follows’ Sake aims to help you explore your leading so that you can become a better dancer and partner on the social floor. We are very excited to have you at FFS and can’t wait to see how it changes your dancing for the better!
A note about dance “experience” or “skill level”
You do not need to be a super experienced extra special advanced lead to attend FFS. However, Leads should have experience leading what is typically referred to as the basics of Pure Balboa and Bal Swing (listed on our Classes page). If you have recently attended a Balboa Bootcamp or Beginner series, but are not 100% confident of your basics, you are still ready and have the general knowledge needed to attend this event!
